Claire Scully

Born and bred Londoner Claire Scully takes her inspiration from her surrounding environment yet despite this location her work takes on a very organic feel as she embraces the natural world and the significance of nature within a cities surroundings. Creating whimsical landscapes, playing with scale and detail Claire’s work offers a diverse mix of media with blends of intricate hand drawing, traditional watercolour painting, photography, digital artwork, 3D wooden bird boxes and furniture.

Claire studied for BA Graphic and Media design at London College of Communication then went on to attend Central Saint Martins for MA Communication Design. As well as continually working on many personal projects and frequently collaborating with various other artists Claire is currently working as a freelance illustrator in London. Clients include Random House, Penguin books, The Guardian, hardcore session clothing and colures magazine.

Pomme Chan

Born and educated in Bangkok, Pomme Chan completed a BA in Interior Design and joined DY&R and Grey before relocating to the UK to focus on her interest in graphic design. After studying graphic design at the London College of Communication, she worked in the magazine industry and later became a freelance illustrator.

In the span of just 3 years, Pomme has developed campaigns for a diverse list of clients including Mercedes-Benz, Playstation3, Select NY, Freya Lingerie and Southern Comfort, with work featuring in the Telegraph Magazine, IDN Magazine, Fashion Inc. and UKtv chanel - among others. Pomme’s work also appears on websites for VV magazine and You He She.

Using her unique felt-tip style Pomme draws inspiration from nature, fashion and the curve of the female form – she exhibits her work in rare moments of free time.

Erin Petson

An Artist and illustrator, Erin works at the cutting edge of traditional and mixed media. Her love of drawing blends seamlessly with textures and montage to create powerful and provocative images. Her subjects are often withdrawn, on edge and detached from their surroundings, which adds to the mystery of Erin’s work and contrasts its delicacy. Her assemblages have a paper doll like quality they have been described as bondage leaning glam-vintage images. Erin constantly experiments with media, scale and reference in her work. You are likely to find tape, collage, magazine clippings, and vintage textiles in and amongst her pencil drawing and painting.

Commissions by Playstation3, Stella McCartney, Selfridges, Asda, Bracewell, Art Directors Club Germany and Lascivious, have all come since graduating from Liverpool John Moores University in 2004, whilst her illustration has featured in

The New York Times, Time Out London, Domino New York, Rojo, Tank Magazine, Elle(US), Marie Claire(US & AUS), JANE(US), Little White Lies, X-FUNS, Madame Figaro…….

Seeing her work for real is recommended as its power comes from the textures and the immediacy of her images.

Susie Wright

Susie is inspired by her Scottish heritage, natural history and architecture. Her images invite the viewer into a world of experimental and intriguing landscapes, turning the familiar into edgy and linear new worlds of exploration. Susie works in a variety of media including; intricate illustrations, 3D constructions, digital images, photography and screen printing, with each process informing the other.

Susie is currently Art Director of the Scottish independent clothing label Oddities, as well as working as an artist in residence at Central Saint Martins College in the printmaking department. Recent commissions include artwork for The Scottish Beekeepers’ Association, The Travelling Gallery and Wallpaper Magazine.

An impromptu and inventive exhibition that invites you into the exquisite illustrative worlds of FOUR influential Artists, Claire Scully, Erin Petson, Pomme Chan and Susie Wright.

A combination of unique artistic drawing styles that will delight. A very fine example of contemporary illustration not to be missed.

Original artworks, prints and printed merchandise, embellish the walls of the Coningbys Gallery from the 26th of November – 1st of December 2007.
